Vaulchibel

“Vaulchibel is flame incarnate, with molten magma coursing through its veins and craters on its body that spew out lava. When its rage reaches boiling point, its body burns red hot. In this furious state, its power grows so violent as to make the world quake and instigate volcanic eruptions in distant lands.”
—Bestiary's entry

Vaulchibel (Valkibel in the original Japanese) is the new Benevodon of Fire, replacing Xan Bie, who serves as a boss in Visions of Mana. It is the last of its kind fought by the heroes, who appears after the other seven are destroyed. It is strongly linked to volcanoes and makes its abode within magma flows.

Story[]

Vaulchibel is first seen as the Benevodons attack the Sanctuary of Mana, only to be repelled by the Barrier protecting it, due to three of them having already been slain. It remains dormant until it is the only Benevodon left, being fought in the Dorpher Volcano overseeing Tianeea Village, hometown to the soul guard and Alm of Light Val, before it can destroy everything by causing an eruption.

Boss Battle[]

At level 47, it is very slow and clumsy but highly powerful and resilient. It can melt into a puddle of lava and make its hand emerge from it, swipes its large hands wreathed in flames, and punches the ground to make fire erupt. Fiery boulders may fall from the volcano during some of its attacks, sometimes remaining on the ground before exploding. It can fire clusters of fiery boulders from the volcanoes on its back. The heroes must get away as in gathers power to evade its devastating firestorm.

Naturally, Vaulchibel resists Salamando, but is vulnerable to Undine, so spells and element-infused weapons are advised. Attacking after it does is a good tactic. When close to death, blue fire burns on its right hand and it becomes more aggressive and relentless.
