Adoption request[edit source]

Hi. I’ve given you admin and bureaucrat rights on this community as you requested. You now have the tools you need to clean up, customize, and maintain the wiki.

Check out your Admin Dashboard, which can be found by clicking "Admin" on the bottom toolbar. It has links to all your new tools. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck with your new (old) wiki! JoePlay FandomStaff.png (talk) 16:30, March 20, 2018 (UTC)

New Wiki Manager[edit source]

I'm Tephra, the new Fandom Wiki Manager for the Wiki of Mana. I am here to help the community and be your liaison to Fandom. If you need anything, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
◄► Tephra ◄► 18:49, May 9, 2019 (UTC)

Search and replace[edit source]

That does sound like the job of a bot. I've never run a bot before, but I know some of the other Wiki Managers have and I could ask one of them to help out if you want.
◄► Tephra ◄► 12:36, June 12, 2019 (UTC)

Fandom University[edit source]

I am adding a Fandom University player to the Special:Community page to help out new or inexperienced editors on all wikis that are willing to accept it. You can see what it would look like on the Diablo Wiki. This is done with ImportJS and so can easily be removed at any time. Would you be ok with this addition here?
◄► Tephra ◄► 06:06, June 22, 2019 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and enabled it since I didn't hear back from you. If you decide you don't want it, just delete dev:FandomU.js from MediaWiki:ImportJS.
◄► Tephra ◄► 07:18, June 29, 2019 (UTC)
I'm not really sure what you mean. What things are missing their target?
◄► Tephra ◄► 08:59, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

Analytics[edit source]

Hey, in case you didn't see the blog, you can now use Special:Analytics to see useful and interesting traffic data for this wiki.
◄► Tephra ◄► 17:39, August 9, 2019 (UTC)

Search and replace follow up[edit source]

Do you still need that search and replace thing? I've started learning how to run bots and I could run it here if you still need that done.
◄► Tephra ◄► 00:41, September 25, 2019 (UTC)

Ok, write a description of the process you want done, the exact areas you want it to overlook, as well as noting anything else that might be important so the bot won't make an unnecessary mess.
◄► Tephra ◄► 05:35, September 25, 2019 (UTC)
If you could link the pages by name that you want to be skipped over, that would be preferable. I will need to explain exceptions to the person who will be helping me operate the bot, and page names will be much easier than trying to track down the pages you are referring to.
◄► Tephra ◄► 09:22, September 25, 2019 (UTC)

Ok, I've written to the other manager who will be assisting me with the bot. If all goes well, we will probably be running it later today. These are the instructions I gave to him, could you verify they are correct?

search and replace Seiken Densetsu 3 with Trials of Mana, and SD3 with ToM
pages and categories
exceptions: Trials of Mana, Collection of Mana, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Mana (series)

◄► Tephra ◄► 19:32, September 25, 2019 (UTC)

Mana (series) is on the list above, you might have to scroll to the right to see it.
◄► Tephra ◄► 21:02, September 25, 2019 (UTC)
One last question (hopefully). This is just for mainspace pages, correct?
◄► Tephra ◄► 23:24, September 25, 2019 (UTC)

The bot is finished with only 8 hits. There were a few more hits on image names, but I skipped those. Since there were so few, perhaps you would like to check them all to confirm they are good edits (make sure you select "Show bots" on RecentChanges).

Walkthrough guide[edit source]

Fandom is currently trying out a new Walkthrough teaching aid for new editors. Apparently, results so far are much better than expected. After trying it on a limited number of wikis, they would like to expand the number using it. It appears on the rail, you can see what it looks like here. Is this something you would want to try on this wiki?
◄► Tephra ◄► 03:30, September 28, 2019 (UTC)

Great! I think it will be implemented on Monday then.
◄► Tephra ◄► 23:31, September 28, 2019 (UTC)

The current testing phase for the walkthrough teaching aid that was enabled for this wiki will be ending tomorrow and eventually disabled. Depending on how it performed, it may become a standard feature on the United Community Platform. Let me know if you have any feedback on things you felt it did well or poorly within the next 24 hours.

User:Sieghrain's edits[edit source]

What he's basically done is taken a bunch of the wanted links and made "pages" out of them, but has only linked to his youtube videos, there's no content in any of them. Could you remove the pages? --PlNG (talk) 16:27, March 7, 2020 (UTC)

Sure. Link me to a list and I will do what I can. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 18:08, March 7, 2020 (UTC)
It kind of looks like that list would be his entire contributions page. If you can confirm that he has never made a useful edit to the wiki, I can run a wipe on his account that will delete/revert everything he has done here.
◄► Tephra ◄► 03:06, March 9, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much. Kinda odd that I couldn't find this guy with a manual search. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 03:39, March 9, 2020 (UTC)
Come to think of it, I remember some guy uploading a bunch of videos, but at the time I couldn't do anything about it. I figure it best to err on the side of caution and purge them all. If somebody wants to do a video walk-through of Legend of Mana, then it needs to be another project written in a very particular context, which we haven't defined yet. As for other games in the series, we might be looking for videos to be a little more targeted than these seem to be. While it will cause our article count to go down, I would feel comfortable knowing that a bunch of extraneous information was eliminated. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 03:49, March 9, 2020 (UTC)
Does that mean you want the account wiped? Erasing someone from a wiki is kind of serious, so I will need a direct confirmation.
◄► Tephra ◄► 15:19, March 9, 2020 (UTC)
I should have responded right away, but I guess I got caught up in you saying "I trust that it will reach a reasonable outcome" and figured you wanted to discuss the situation more before deciding anything. However what I need to address is "However, it would mean undoing some contributions by more established users in the process". If I wipe an account, it will only revert the target's contributions if they were the last person to make an edit to the page. If another editor makes an edit, then it is considered the new editor's contribution and will not be reverted.
Also, I'm not sure if you meant "we've got a little more than a month to prepare for the upcoming remake of the third game in the series. It would be nice to see this place take on a more vibrant theme to match" as just a comment on the state of things or if you were making a subtle request for help in designing the theme. I can help if you want me to. I am not familiar with the game, but I've had to design themes for several brand new wikis with zero editors covering upcoming games that I'd never heard of before, so familiarity isn't actually very necessary.

Help wanted[edit source]

Requesting advice on filling in stuff, mainly the descriptions for class changes. Did some stuff for Charlotte, then took it down to avoid stepping on toes. Where are people getting the descriptions for the classes, or are we free to add flavor text? I want to contribute with the new re-release coming up, but at the same time not trample over people's hard work.

ThatOneScribe (talk) 22:52, March 12, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for writing. I don't know where the information came from previous to 2018, when I took over. Generally, we want information from official sources — guide books, promotional material, reference material (Ultimania) and so forth. Any flavor text used in the actual game is fair game. Do not preoccupy yourself with the fear of destroying another's work. Wikis are incredibly fluid; as times change, so do the people that write them. That comes from the experiences people have with the different games and remasters out there. When it comes to writing, just be yourself; but do keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia as much as it is a fan site. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 23:20, March 12, 2020 (UTC)
Understood. I'll add some stuff for the classes, but I won't go too crazy and try to rewrite canon.

RE: Muchas gracias![edit source]

Hey there Swordzman! No thanks needed, I just added the interwikis here since I created an article on the spanish wiki about Trials of Mana, now that the remastered version is going to be released soon.

Unfortunately though, the spanish wiki has very few articles and it's mostly abandoned so I won't be working there a lot. Still, as a Wiki Manager for the spanish wikis I'll be keeping an eye on it just in case something urgent comes up and, of course, if you need some help with anything here feel free to contact me and I'll try to help as much as I can c:

Greetings! WFLΛSH (My cave) 20:04, April 8, 2020 (UTC)

On the subject of Trials, you might want to convert their article on Seiken 3 into a full page on the localized title. If you also get folks to create content, it should be interesting to see how they handle the one big quirk of the new translation. How do you handle a Spanish niña with a speech impediment (Charlotte) when you can't exactly roll a W as you can an R? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 22:08, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
Ah that's true, they're the same game after all. I'll probably move the useful info into the Trials article and leave the old one as a redirect to the newer one.
And about the translation, I honestly don't know. With problems like that you usually have two options: first one is translating literally as it is in english, which sometimes doesn't make sense in spanish but it's much faster and easier; the second one is adapting all the original language quirks into spanish using local idioms and figures of speech (the translation of Cuphead is a good example). This is obviously the preferred option but it's also much harder and not always possible to do. Glancing through the trailers looks like it's going to be the second option for this game, so that's great! WFLΛSH (My cave) 08:47, April 9, 2020 (UTC)

RE: Short announcement en español[edit source]

Hey, thank you so much man! I can check the message if you want, and correct some small mistakes. Hopefully this can create some interest about the spanish wiki; if any editor start contributing there I can help them learn the ropes and assist them with anything.

Again, thanks for your attention and your help. Anything you need, just have to send me a message. Greetings! WFLΛSH (My cave) 08:35, April 14, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks. Any small adjustments are welcome. ¡Vamenos! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 16:48, April 14, 2020 (UTC)

Wiki improvements[edit source]

This wiki was recently inspected by one of the Community Managers to find little things that could use improvement. Note that these are all advice, we are not here to force you to do anything you don't want to do.

  • Find a new wiki background (this one is considered the least important, but I believe you wanted to change it anyway).
  • Improve the Main Page:
    • Add a description about the series, this is good for search engine optimization.
    • Remove the domain change notice, it has been more than a year since the move and wikia links will still redirect to fandom.
    • Create a Mobile Main Page. This is a requirement to qualify to be added to the Fandom app.
  • Convert the remaining nonportable infoboxes.
    • Also fix current portable infoboxes (remove divs and put image with <image> tag).

◄► Tephra ◄► 18:16, April 25, 2020 (UTC)

Check, check, and check. I'll get to removing that notice right now. As for the other stuff, it will be welcomed. Maybe you can help me with someone whose lips are moving, but all I hear is "WAAH, WAAH, WAAH!" No denying their professionalism, but now they're getting off course. Of course we have to preserve the integrity of the original series, but theirs is not conduct I expect of top contributors. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get what I can. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 19:05, April 25, 2020 (UTC)
Who is WAAH, WAAH, WAAHing? I don't know if there is anything I could do to help with an editing disagreement though...
◄► Tephra ◄► 01:28, April 27, 2020 (UTC)
Basically, our biggest editor has had a bug up their derrière since the series took on a new direction and a new team. Like, there's a line to be drawn on or around 2007, when they claim the series ceased to exist. As I told some of the regulars, their edits are impeccable. But they are so dead set on what the original team has been up to that they've started adding stuff that should not apply. I told them I get it, but we need to focus better on the series itself no matter who's at the helm. As a frequent editor, I thought they might be able to help correct some of the information that is on here without their overly strong opinion mucking things up. Of course, with the new game on the loose as of this weekend, I've been putting in a little extra time making sure the names are right.
Per your suggestion, there's still a lot of back end work to be done. I myself do not have the capacity to code. Or rather, coding isn't my strongest suit. Writing and doing the data entry is a big enough task given that this space was left without an exec for a year and a half. I've got a few guys and girls stepping in when they can, But there are times when I feel isolated, like I'm the only one doing this and I've still got a pile of stuff to do that I wasn't meant to do alone. Contrast that with another wiki I manage, and I put together a pretty solid group of guys that are always hard at work. They love theIr craft, and I kinda wish we had the same sentiment here. I know we are all volunteers, but I'm still looking for people committed enough to do the grind. You follow where I'm going here? Because the trick is going to be getting the word out that we need to have good design people as well as writers and editors. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:12, April 27, 2020 (UTC)
I can ask the Community Manager to send someone to help you convert your nonportable infoboxes, but I'm not sure I can offer you anything more than that. Recruiting new editors is a challenge for every wiki.

Hi! The infoboxes have been converted and/or improved directly by me. If you have any question, feel free to reach me. Thanks. --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 16:39, April 28, 2020 (UTC)

Hi again! I'm sorry, but I probably confused you... haha I'm actually a Community Manager, a Fandom employee, and I am who suggested the improvements to the Wiki Manager Tephra.
I'm also the Manager of WFlash, the Wiki Manager for the Spanish wiki, and I also managed his actions and the recent conversations he had with you. In other words, both actions from them are handled by me... Anyway, I'm really glad for your welcome and for your offer.
I hope you're enjoying Trials of Mana during these days. --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 17:05, April 28, 2020 (UTC)

Background[edit source]

I found an image that might make an interesting background here. The figures on opposing sides would look good, but I am not familiar enough with the series to know if it would be suitable to the wiki. If you like it, I can implement it for you.
◄► Tephra ◄► 07:44, May 4, 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps it would work for the top navigation banner, but it would have to be made a transparent type of green. I have a couple of images straight from Twitter that could be used as a background. I could upload those. It'll happen within the next day or two. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 08:26, May 4, 2020 (UTC)

MMP[edit source]

I've created a Mobile Main Page for you, but you may want to review it to make sure it covers what should be covered and maybe decide if some alternate images would be more suitable.
◄► Tephra ◄► 21:54, May 4, 2020 (UTC)

Absowutewy beautifuw wowk! No issues on iOS 13.4 with an iPhone 11 Pro, and the images look good and appropriate. Thank you, sir! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 22:35, May 4, 2020 (UTC)
I've added some other main categories. --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contact) 10:12, May 6, 2020 (UTC)

Discord Server[edit source]

Have you thought of making a Discord server for the wiki contributors to discuss things on? It might make co-ordinating things a little easier. Meganerd18 (talk) 23:48, May 4, 2020 (UTC)

I have the Discord app on my iPad here, at the suggestion of a Jotamide. So, now what? As in, what do I need to do to get a dedicated Twitter and a Discord server set up? For as long as I've been around the Internet, I'm kind of new to that. Do I need Reddit as well, because I was following a Secret of Mana channel with a Reddit name? Call me a dated man if you must, but I honestly could use somebody to show me the ropes. Thanks for writing. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:12, May 5, 2020 (UTC)

Pages to be deleted[edit source]

It looks like real-life responsibilities are once again going to pull me away from the wiki for an indeterminate length of time, but I've done a little bit of cleaning up and created some pages that we needed. I also nominated a couple for deletion - it looks like you got rid of one already, but Tyrranos won't be needed (it was misspelled) and there are a few others you can probably delete at your convenience.

I might drop in again and do some more editing when things settle down. Take care, and keep up the good work! -Mythril Wyrm (talk) 02:18, May 6, 2020 (UTC)

Not to worry, chief. I'll keep picking them off. That crazy virus is still on the loose, so stay safe out there and we'll see you around. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:37, May 6, 2020 (UTC)

Background[edit source]

Hey! There are some really nice official backgrounds that I could edit to be used for this wiki. Would you be interested in that? I think it would make this wiki look a lot nicer.

Even this grass wallpaper would look better, in my opinion. Tell me what you think.

Yeah, for sure! I think it will need to be edited to work though, otherwise it may be too big with the size restraints. Did you want to do that then?

The Question Thread[edit source]

Hi, Swordzmanp236!

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

I'm currently getting used to the very basics of editing since this is my first time doing it. In a template editor, how do I code an image? I successfully did add an image in the location template in the Pedda page, but I can't find out how to add an image from my personal files.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Rabillion (talk) 02:21, May 11, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Thank you, O Silk-Tailed One! Actually, adding a new image is pretty easy. Use the column of dots at the far right corner to drop down more options. Click or tap Add new image, and fill nut the form (we'd appreciate if you named the image in the process of uploading). Once everything is square, tag the Upload button at the bottom. Got it? Good. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:45, May 11, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the reminder! I wasn't aware of that :(

Rabillion (talk) 21:45, May 13, 2020 (UTC)Rabilion

Hey there,

I'm going to add the various ware that shop sells in Trials of Mana. Since the Wendel article is a hub for all the Wendels in the Mana series, shouldn't it be better to add a specific page for the ToM one?

Thanks in advance!

Rabillion (talk) 01:05, May 14, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Hey Swordzmanp236!

If there a way to automatically input a customizable table for shops via the editing menu? Manually creating it each time is quite cumbersome if I'm going to do this for every shop in ToM.

Rabillion (talk) 20:00, May 14, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

What we want to do in this instance involves some degree of coding. To be honest, I have the same sort of problem on some of the other spaces that I manage. Lots of good writers, but nobody to code. That said, I think I may have to borrow something from one of those other spaces that might work in this case. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 20:18, May 14, 2020 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again.

I think Valsena should also be considered for splitting just like Wendel. Any other towns should also suffer the same fate?

Rabillion (talk) 20:48, May 14, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Thanks for getting back so quick. If we're going to split as you propose, I need to find evidence that the name is used in another game and a different context. I'm going to go take a look and see if that's the case, then we'll go from there. as I understand it, both Heroes and Trials are set in the same universe. Therefore, any story sections will have to list Heroes first. Likewise, if there are any shops in the real time strategy game, the plan is to list those behind Trials by virtue of release order. Keep up the excellent work. We'll get there! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 20:58, May 14, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! :)

Hey there! How is it going?

Do you know how to change row in a table without changing cell? Is that even possible?

Thanks a lot!

Rabillion (talk) 22:12, May 19, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

I feel like I'm almost understanding the question, but not quite. Please explain. If you need to add a row, then place the data between a set of pipes and dashes.

Not sure if it'll help. You might ask your question over at Community Central. I think they have some experts over there that might have a few ideas to get where we want to go. Dammit, Jim! I'm a writer, not a programmer! Swordzmanp236 (talk) 22:33, May 19, 2020 (UTC)

Oh! Thanks! I found how to make it with your help! This is what I wanted to do (in bold) :

|11 Intelligence Points (SNES version)

Rabillion (talk) 00:18, May 20, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Here's the link to the page I was refering to in my latest post :

Hey Swordzmanp236!

Should we separate each character classes page from Trials of Mana and make out one page for each character class? Like taking the High Cleric section from the Bishop page and make a signe page out of it?

Thanks as always!

Rabillion (talk) 22:49, May 22, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Just to be clear, I read this question previously, but I wasn't really sure how to respond. What we are looking to do with the class pages is to take them out of a Trials of Mana-only context into more of a generalized context. Apparently, variations of these classes are also present in Sword of Mana as well as a few other oddball games. The real challenge here, as I see it, is to separate the SNES/Collection class strategy from the 2020 version. To do that, we're going to need to create some subpages. Not only that, but for skill and move lists, we're gonna need to create a four row by six column table for each character. It's going to get a little bit complicated from here.
The 3-D remake not only divides skills according to class, with each class being assigned a number; but it also divides skills into five core statistical groups: strength, stamina, intelligence, spirit, and luck. Each class rank sets a point cap on what the player can learn.
  • Class 1 gets capped at 6 points per stat.
  • Class 2 gets capped at 15 points per stat.
  • Class 3 gets capped at 33 points per stat. That means a player would need to reach a level somewhere in the mid 70s to get all of the skills.
  • And for the masochists among us, Class 4 has a cap of 63 points per stat. The skills within are mostly stat boosts. You get a new Class Strike, a new combo, and some fancy new weapons and other gear, but that's about it. To get all the skills, the character actually has to max out at level 99.
As if that wasn't enough, we have to more than double the number of cells in the second row and double again for the third. For the fourth, we drop back to where things are in the second row, as the end path relies on Class 2 more than it does Class 3.
Did you get all that? Because I'm having a really tough time explaining how is the job system has changed so much between the two versions. Good luck. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 01:41, May 26, 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, I get it. This all sounds quite like a daunting task. I don't think I'm willing to invest that amount of time in all that to be honest, unless someone can frame up the subpages for me because I for sure be lost in all that editing.

Rabillion (talk) 02:42, May 26, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Involvement in Trials of Mana[edit source]

Have you see the following staff in Trials of Mana? From Credits. They haven't updated on yet.

  • Koichi Ishii (Not the Original Game Design)
  • Shinichi Kameoka
  • Noriko Sasaki
  • Nao Ikeda
  • Airi Yoshioka

Haven't seen above anyone from Credits, or Special Thanks? Windywalk (talk) 18:48, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

Can't say I've seen anything of the sort. I think I've mentioned this once before, but I'll say it again. I thought I saw in the official Wikipedia article on the original game that Mr. Ishii was consulted insofar as naming the localized SD3. Interestingly, the original credits appear unaltered in the Switch adaptation. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 19:17, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
Deconfirmed that involved Grezzo. Not the official site updated. 'Trials' is referring from 'Tri', 'Triangle Story'. Windywalk (talk) 20:00, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
The impression I got was that Ishii was consulted independently of Grezzo at the time. The whole bit is kind of tucked away at the bottom of the Wikipedia article, under "Development". There's not enough detail anywhere about what happened in the following two years, only that various announcements were made. This being said, let's keep ourselves open to the possibility that Ishii may have been working on his Grezzo stuff, but was contacted by SE as a courtesy. I myself have a bunch of scenarios running through my head as to how this could happen, but it doesn't make them true in the least. We need to locate the exact citation used. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 20:45, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
Ishii and Tanaka visited SE in November 6, 2017 (according from Art of Mana); interviewed about Mana series. (FFA, SOM, SD3, DOM) Have you see others in credits? Kameoka, Sasaki, etc. Windywalk (talk) 20:53, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
Sounds like an interesting proposition, but it's going to require some serious digging. As of right now, however, it looks like we might just have a problem on our hands with one user kind of splitting hairs with regards to monster data. I have no problem with him adding it, but we can't just blow up the wiki with a bunch of data for the sake of blowing it up. At the same time, we're gonna have to chop some things into bite-size chunks for anybody on mobile. Do you think you might be able to help with that? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:05, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
I haven't attempted Trials of Mana remake, because disgusting artwork and voices. I checked credit resource everyday. Discussion ends. I'll reply one message after updated on credit resource. Windywalk (talk) 21:11, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

Treasure mistakes?[edit source]

Oops, sorry for the treasure mistakes! I thought that since it was an accessory this time, it could be equipped by multiple characters.

Technically, you're not wrong. The treasures that appear in chests with gear are determined by the members of your party. With regular weapons and armor, it should be easy to correct for who has what, but some accessories can be equipped by multiple members, which makes it a slight bit harder. To that end, let's use "C1" to denote the first companion, and "C2" for the second. Sound good? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 16:21, June 7, 2020 (UTC)
Yeah ok! I'll do that :)

New look for the wiki[edit source]

Hi there! I'm the new Gaming wiki team lead and we'd like to update the colour scheme of this wiki to give it a fresher look for the new game. Is that something you'd be into? Please let me know — Game widow ( talk ) 16:54, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

[edit source]

What image specifically do you mean by "forward facing logo"?
◄► Tephra ◄► 18:30, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

Do you mean this one perhaps? Wiki.pngGame widow ( talk ) 18:46, July 8, 2020 (UTC)
I mean the nameplate that appears at the top corner in desktop view. It looks rather drab when you're trying to convey a sense of organic life. By the way, thanks for jumping in. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 19:46, July 8, 2020 (UTC)
OK, I think you mean the Wiki wordmark then, and yes, we can spiff that up — Game widow ( talk ) 19:52, July 8, 2020 (UTC)
By all means, please feel free. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:50, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

Hey there!

As you may have seen, I have been on a creation spree for quite a while.

I accidentally created the King of Ferolia page without realizing that Gauser was the right page to look for in the first place... Anyways, I think I need to ask you to delete my page since I can't seem to find a way to do it myself.

Rabillion (talk) 04:03, August 1, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

About that table fitting in the ToM character classes, would you recommend making it all the same length as your example in the Gladiator (Trials of Mana) page (under the Class Strikes section)?

Rabillion (talk) 20:13, August 2, 2020 (UTC)Rabillion

Exactly. That's how we roll. Thanks for the quick turnaround. I'll be in touch. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:47, August 2, 2020 (UTC)

Statistics[edit source]

Hey Swordzmanp236, I was wondering if there is any way I can see the popular pages just like it was the case with the old interface. I can see the five most viewed articles but I can't seem to locate the full list. Go any ideas? Thanks! Rabillion

Hmm... good question. Looks like our migration to UCP removed a bunch of tracking tools for admins, too. Let me ask around, see what I can find. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 22:53, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Hey there again Swordzmanp236, Sorry to bother you again with this, but I really would like to see that popular pages insight available again. I've searched other Fandom wikis and they mostly have this kind of special page. What could we do about it? Thanks again! Rabillion

Hey! I think I may have found the problem here! I went on this page and compared it with another wiki that has the popular page insights. I think we are missing the Insights (Version 2.0). According to its description it can do the following : Introduces the Special:Insights special page and subpages which list articles or templates that require attention from contributors. There is also this info on the rightmost column : Łukasz Konieczny, Adam Karminski <> and Kamil Koterba. I hope this helps!

thanks for the pointers. At this point, it's really hard to tell what the Mothership is planning to do, but I hear they're putting future migrations on hold because there have been so many bugs with this one. It's a similar situation at one of our sister wikis; The Powers That Be decided to jump them early, not realizing that it would cause a problem with as much custom scripting as FFWiki has. With patience, we will get to whatever holy grail we're supposed to drink from. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 04:37, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
You can get the top ten popular pages on Special:Analytics.

Top-level category[edit source]

Category:Browse used to be the standard top-level category, but SEO research has indicated that the sitename is preferable as the top-level category. I see that you already have Category:wiki of Mana, so I would recommend moving all of the items in the Browse category to Wiki of Mana (or I can do it for you if you want).

I've noticed already, thanks to a fellow calling himself Flanqer on one of our network wikis. An automated process doing this would certainly be quicker, so you and your bot can go right on ahead. Thanks for letting me know. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 04:37, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

Template Creation[edit source]

Hey Swordzmanp236! I want to add some templates to this wiki and I cannot find the way to create one from scratch. All I can do is modifying a preexisting one. Is there a way I can bypass this? A link or button to access a new template creation?

Thanks!= as always!

Templates[edit source]

Edit : Thank you for your quick response. I just noticed your previous post on my page about that Adventures of Mana about late to the party lol!

On that previous note, I already did that template: search in the search bar and I wasn't sure what to do doesn't look that different to a normal search, am I doing something wrong? Anyways, what I wanted to create first is a new navigation box for Sword of Mana in order to make the split between AoM and Sword more clear. Also, I think making new templates like enemy intel, elemental strengths and weaknesses, etc. and also shops could be beneficial.

Lastly, I don't know if you noticed it, but I was fiddling a lot to distinguish each game's table styles to make them match their respective box art's colors (see my Non-Player Characters in Trials of Mana example). I don't know if it's a good idea to make all tables in the fashion, but I personally hate the basic style anyway...

Lemme know what you think of all this!

Edit 2 : Seems to work, how does this and that look to you? Edit 3 : I get it! I was meant to add the Template: directly into the Add a new article box...

Discord[edit source]

If you use Discord, could you send me a message at Tephra#2372
There is something I wish to discuss with you in private.

I sent you a request via that app. Looks like it's working. Much obliged. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 06:25, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

ToM Class Navigation Template[edit source]

While we're at it, I'd like to have some kind of navigation template for each character's classes, like a simplified branching path of the 9 classes for each character like we already have on their character page. Do you have an idea where I could find an example of that? Thanks again! Rabillion (talk) 17:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

See my new template on this page and this example. I'm trying to look for a script that could highlight the cell of the current class displayed on screen, a bit like in the Class Change main picture. Any idea? Rabillion (talk) 23:01, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Working on it. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 23:17, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Wiki representative[edit source]

I'm the new Fandom wiki representative (formerly called wiki managers - there should be a blog post soon about the re-organization explaining more) on this wiki. Please let me know if you need anything. --Pcj (talk) 23:45, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Ring Ring Land guide[edit source]

Howdy! You may or may not know me from Final Fantasy Wiki, but I've been working on a guide for Ring Ring Land for the upcoming Legend of Mana remaster. The page is here:

I'm fully aware the tables need work, but for the most part I don't think there's much more I can add to it for the time being since a lot of the unknowns left are rather technical and boil down to extensive lists of items and how you can get them. Bluestarultor (talk) 23:50, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for the heads-up. I think I've seen you around, but this really is the first time we've met person to person. Anyway, why don't you copy that guide here? Hard to say if the remaster will implement this particular minigame, or whether it goes the Final Fantasy VIII route and puts the goodies elsewhere. We've got a few months to figure things out, so go ahead and take your shot. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:20, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
It's absolutely confirmed to be in, though I can't say whether they'll make changes or improvements. There are a healthy number of unused item slots they could potentially fill if Legend of Mana has more items to assign to them. It's also quite light on sound, despite some very nice cinematic touches, so it wouldn't surprise me if they took the opportunity to spice it up in that area. 48KB is nothing to sneeze at for a PocketStation game, but six memory card blocks is six memory card blocks and PCM ain't free. ☺
Do you have a dedicated walkthrough space like FF Wiki or should it go into mainspace? I may continue to make improvements to the language and descriptions a bit, too, but I can just as easily do that here as on FF Wiki. Also, I absolutely understand if it needs to be cleaned up for objective voice for mainspace. Bluestarultor (talk) 01:14, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks again for the great contributions! We don't have a walk-through project space set up yet, but I'm sure it should be fairly easy for us to make one of those. Been meaning to do a few things with Secret of Mana in that regard. Previous editors have had walk-through jumbled up with story and, let's just say it isn't the prettiest thing. Looking forward to seeing what you can do. Have fun, whatever it is you do. I'll be right here fixing up a few things from time to time.Swordzmanp236 (talk) 04:28, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
