Undine (ウンディーネ Undīne) is the Mana Spirit of Water. She appears as a mermaid, often wielding a trident. As the water elemental, Undine's spells invoke attacks such as hailstorms, acid showers, tsunamis, whirlpools, bubble guns, and the ability for weapons to freeze opponents. Her healing spells in Secret of Mana were given to Wisp (Lumina) in Trials of Mana.

She usually appears as helpful and seems to be very supportive. She's also quite confident of herself, though not as much as Wisp.

Undine is found in the Marsh Cave after defeating the Hydra. However, the poison in the marsh water has weakened her, and she needs clean water to recover. Hero and Heroine take her to a small lake in the nearby Scaly Lair, where she recovers and joins them. Like many of the other spirits, she uses element-related puns.

Undine's Cave is found behind the Water Palace guarded by an invisible barrier. Shortly after the fall of Elinee, the barrier is weakened enough for Iffish and a Tonpole egg to wash up into the cave. After the party defeats the Biting Lizard, she gives Popoi and Primm her powers, but leaves Randi out. He asks why but Undine only insists that his sword will become more powerful than any magic. Her spells include Ice Saber, Cure Water, and Remedy for Primm, and Freeze, Acid Storm, and Energy Absorb for Popoi.

Undine is the fifth or sixth Mana Spirit to join the heroes. The heroes' search for the Mana Spirits eventually takes them to the Waterstone, located in the Labyrinth of Ice near Frostbite Fields. Before they get to the Mana Stone, they are forced to defeat a trio of Machine Golems summoned by the Darkshine Knight. After the golems are taken care of, the heroes find the Mana Stone and Undine, who then joins them.

Visions of Mana

Undine is the third Mana Spirit encountered by Val and the convoy of alms, freed from Master Passar's attempt to foul the waters of Illystana via Fullmetal Hugger and thereby discredit both Palamena and Niccolo in order to take the throne by default. His plan fails when the heroes receive the Undine Flask from a sticky-pawed Madeline and travel to Undine's abode, the Luka Ruins, to defeat the colossal crustacean. Although Passar manages to weasel away from justice, the grateful Elemental is at last free to officially recognize Her Majesty the Queen as her chosen alm.

The mermaid-shaped Flask allows the party to switch to its Water classes and learn Water-based skills on each Elemental Plot. Julei can learn the regenerative Cure Water as an Occultist. In the field, the Undine Flask summons floating bubbles that the party can use to reach higher ground and/or distant pickups; in battle, the Flask releases streams of water to bind foes in bubbles and blunt physical attacks for a time.

In the world of Fa'Diel, Undine is regarded as the Spirit of Water, and is held as the source of all life.

Like her fellow spirits, Undine can accompany the player character on their treks through Fa'Diel's myriad dungeons. Her attack and support spells, respectively, are as follows:

• Ice Crush: Ice blasts outward from the spirit on four sides
• Froststrike: Imbues weapons with the power to freeze foes in their tracks.

Heroes of Mana

Her spells are Spike Freeze (for Valda), Ice Smash (for Belgar, Yurcheal and D'Kelli) and Ice Saber (for everyone else).

Dawn of Mana

In Dawn of Mana, Undine has a penchant for limericks and speaks with a German accent. Her powers can freeze enemies, and she is Gnome's supporter in his argument with Salamander.
