The Springstepper, also known as the Barnaclejack, Springball, or High Stepper, is a recurring creature in the Mana series.
Profile[]
A diminutive creature with large feet, a mushroom-like head, and a coiled spring in its body, the Springstepper can launch an adventurer in the air, allowing them to jump in an arc of any height. The adventurer may land on a platform above, vault in the sky to see a region map, or catapult to a nearby village in lieu of traveling on foot.

A High Stepper may be found in Gaia's Navel, where it can be used to jump to a small platform.
Trials of Mana[]
Springsteppers can be found in many locations throughout the world. In the 2D version, they act as mapping beacons and will vault the party to give the player an overhead view of the region they occupy before sending them crashing to the ground. In the 3D version, Springsteppers can only be activated when approached, and will only move the party in a preset directional arc. There is also an area within the optional Anise's Stockade that must be traversed using these helpful creatures.
Charlotte's friend Mik brought a defective Springstepper to the balcony of the Temple of Light, allowing her to escape, but launching her to Astoria.
