Silence (also known as Mute or Confusion) is a recurring ability in the Mana series. As its name implies, it is usually a magic spell that robs the target of its voice, disabling any attempt to use abilities classified as magic. As with the Final Fantasy games from which Mana spun off, the effect is usually indicated with an ellipsis inside a speech bubble (💬).
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy Adventure & Adventures of Mana[]
Initially known as Mute due to text-space limitations, Silence is given to Sumo by Lester as a gift for rescuing him and eliminating Davias in order to free Jadd. It silences all foes within a small area of effect.
The Baby Monkey item has a similar effect.
Secret of Mana[]
Silence is one of six spells taught by Sylphid, the Mana Spirit of Wind. In addition to muting its target, the spell reverses its movement controls. Enemies affected by the spell will move and attack at random until it wears off.
Popoi can cast the spell at a cost of 2 MP. It is also cast by Nemesis Owls in the Forest of Seasons.
