Wiki of Mana
Selaphia (in game)

“Millennia ago, there lived a shamaness who possessed the ability to shape worlds; Selaphia has taken on her form. She can access the deepest sublayers of the human mind, altering her appearance through clever manipulation of how the brain processes refracted light. As such, while she may seem human, her true form has never been glimpsed.”
—Selaphia's entry in the Bestiary

Selaphia is the new Benevodon of Light, who serves as a boss in Visions of Mana.

Nature[]

"I do not bestow known truth upon mortals. Fate sees to it that what must be revealed is shown in due time. But I shall bear witness to your truth... to the end."
—Selaphia

Contrary to Lightgazer, Selaphia is fully sentient and intelligent. She assumes the aspect of a giant woman clad in white, but her true form is unknown and gender hardly apply to Benevodons. Despite this, the Bestiary uses feminine pronouns.

In addition to its power over light, it can use refractation of light to alter people's perceptions and cause illusions, though it only uses it to alter its aspect, it has control over truth and memories, and it can conjure crystals to attack, probably because it can reflect and diffuse light. It is as evil and dangerous as the other Benevodons, it is genuinely polite, answering Val's question in earnest after he proves worthy.

Role in the Story[]

Selaphia is released along with its brethren by Daelophos, who regains his full power right as the heroes confront it but teleports away, leaving them to face it. It was messing with the memories of the population of Lorimar Island, but was destroyed by the heroes.

Selaphia without her armor.

At level 31, Selaphia is gigantic, floats over the ground and can warp by turning to light. She fires waves of fast-moving swords of light, a homing light orb or several smaller ones that must be dodged at the last moment, and a wave of white mist from her hands. She can also conjure a cloud raining spiky crystals on the heroes, spiky crystals from the ground or a wave of frost-like light all over the ground, covering a wide area around her that the heroes must escape.

She resists Light but is weak to Shadow, so spell and element-infused weapons are advised. Her robe, veil and crown are armors that must be removed with the Shadow Relic, to drastically lower her defenses. When close to death, she spams her attacks faster and over a much wider range. When she says "Shimmering Frost", she freezes the ground before making it burst. Also, her spiky crystals wave is followed by a second wave of much bigger crystals.
