Petrify , also known as Stone, is a recurring status ailment in the Mana series. An effect of Stone Saber and earth-elemental attacks, Petrify turns the victim into a stone statue, preventing him or her from moving. In some games such as Trials of Mana, the petrification is permanent until cured by a item or spell.

Final Fantasy Adventure and Adventures of Mana[]
Abbreviated Ston in Final Fantasy Adventure, Sumo becomes frozen in place when struck with petrification. He can still attack, but becomes more vulnerable to roving enemies. It can be removed with a Gold Needle.
Secret of Mana[]
Inflicted by Stone Saber as well as the Eggatrice on the Lofty Mountains, Petrify turns the victim in a stone statue. It wears off after some time.
