“Having sought further power to seek the most expedient methods of death onto their targets, the Nightblade is an assassin who has mastered the art of murder. With the ways of the ninja not being enough to satiate the goal of stealing lives, the Nightblade turns to deft methods of concealed weapons, the use of poisons, the purpose of maiming and injury to debilitate and weaken, and even striking the opponent psychologically to turn their fears and imagination against them from afar, before closing in on the kill. Though the Nightblade has turned away from the path of ninja, they keep with them their study of ninjutsu to perform obscured spells that not even ninja know about.”

The Nightblade class is the Dark-Dark job path of the Thief class for Hawkeye. The Nightblade focuses on being an enfeebling supportive role with major trumps up its sleeves, with its single target spells use to gradually harass and weaken other foes before building up either tech or utilizing its multi cast spells to wipe out the opposition instantly when the time is right. The Nightblade can be played both directly or indirectly, but can be utilized in most party configurations and demands a keen eye and quick reflexes as the battle goes on to fully realize its fatal capabilities.

Hawkeye's depiction of him as a Nightblade has him wear the Black Garb, a full body suit of armor of infamy made for total covertness within dark conditions by its material being able to blend into darkness, and the Bloody Mask, an unnervingly detailed human faced mask said to have been drenched in blood as a part of its creation and whose use is meant to stimulate the killing instinct. He wields the Deathstroke, a deadly eldritch stiletto like knife created for easily piercing and cutting into flesh and can magically meld with the darkness to hide its presence, and bears the Stealth Charm as an accessory, a series of magical talismans wielded by only the most well studied of Ninja and allows them to blend into darkness, dash about with unmatched agility, and protects them from danger, and now used in the Nightblade's renegade intentions. His appearance overall appears to be meant to present him as a vengeful wraith or the follower of an occult order when he is cloaked and masked, and further draws upon the assassination methods of "cloak and dagger", where one's cloak hides their modus operandi and obscures the act when the assassin comes in contact with their target, while the Nightblade's widely varied set of underhanded tricks bring to mind ninja movie villains that focus more on deception and the kill more than honor and the fighting spirit within Ninjutsu. The killing nature of the Nightblade class, the aforementioned articles of clothing and equipment, and even Hawkeye's "pretty boy" looks bring to mind handsome serial killers like Norman Bates of American Psycho and Terry Simmons of Blood Rage, and slasher movie villains like Jason Vorhees of Friday the 13th. Nobuteru Yukii has commented similarities of his Nightblade being evocative of Dictator from Street Fighter.
