Wiki of Mana
Mousseline

Mousseline is a Faerie serving as one of the heroes and playable characters of Echoes of Mana. She is a rare kind of Great Faerie, and the last to join Quilto/Quilta's party.

Personality[]

Mousseline appears at first glance to be smiling, carefree, fun-loving and happy-go-lucky, who enjoys to relax without minding anything to come. As such, she encourages people to let go of their worries and burdens, complaining when they unfailingly do not listen. She is playful and mischievous, enjoying to tease or prank people, but always without malice.

In truth however, Mousseline is deeply traumatized by the destruction of her world and wracked with survivors' guilt, deeply missing the people and places she loved. This made her deeply somber, cynical and nihilistic. She no longer sees the point in the world, which she dismisses as doomed, and finds Quilto/Quilta's efforts meaningless and vain. She tells them to stop struggle and wait for the inevitable, yet still follows them in earnest when they keep going, complaining all the while.

Deep down, she is touched by their dedication and unfaltering hope against dire odds, and finds them inspiring. At their contact, she gradually lets go of her pain, becoming friendly, mischievous, teasing and fun-loving for real. She is afraid to regain hope only to lose everything again, and keeps her distance to avoid getting hurt, but she still goes on.

As a faerie, Mousseline can fly, perceive auras and resist beguiling magic of Lost Woods, but she can live independently from the Tree of Mana and interact with the world much more freely than her smaller kin.

Universally recognized as the most powerful of all fairies, she wields enormous magic power and mastery of sorcery, casting all manner of spells, magical techniques and effects. As a faerie, she is mostly linked to the Wood Element, but she can wield others. Also, she wields staves in battle with great proficiency.

In Game[]

Quilto/Quilta and Baashear meet Mousseline when venturing into an echo of the Faeriewood. They keep going on circles, unable to find their way due to the magic until she appears, startling them with her lack of personal space.

She guides them to the Faerie Village, where she volunteers them to play mediators in the brewing conflict between the three villages of Fringefields, Centralis and the aggressive village of Briarborough. The hero defeats the mighty great Warrior Faerie, humbling them and restoring peace.

After the hero defeats the Ebon Knight and gains the Mana Sword, the False Goddess Dema unveils her scheme to usurp the Mana Goddess. She prepares to put the hero into eternal slumber to "reward" him, and Mousseline intervenes to drag them to the Mana Sanctuary.

Mousseline helps the hero gathering back their party, dispersed throughout the multiverse and save the Mana Spirits from Gossamare.
