Wiki of Mana
Morley

Morley, the Radiant Sword, is one of the five main heroes and playable characters of Visions of Mana. He is a Beastman of the Catfolk who lived in the Moon Parish of Etaern until its destruction sixteen years before the story. He was adopted by Niccolo and works as a sellsword, before joining the party as the Alm of the Moon.

Background[]

Sixteen years before the story, Morley lived in Etaern with his beloved mother. He was a lively little boy, who enjoyed climbing around. One fated day, he climbed the Lunar Sandglass, hoping to see the Faerie who would name the Alm of the Moon before everyone else. Alas, the Sandglass fell down and broke, and its power over time went hawhire, exiling the soul of everyone outside of time and space.

Without anyone to be anointed as Alm, the power of Mana was depleted in the region and Luna could no longer preserve the parish, who became a desolated wasteland frozen in sub-zero temperature with no hope of thawing. Morley and the other survivors fled, with him being adopted by the rich merchant Niccolo and raised in Illystana, in which he learnt how to fight.

Morley meets Val, Hinna and Careena in Etaern, searching for the Lunar Globe to turn back time and undo this day, but being anointed as the Alm of the Moon persuaded him to move on. He would later reunite briefly with his mother's soul as she passes away after being freed, long enough to say their goodbyes, and learn that he was not responsible for the destruction of the Sandglass, which fell because someone stole the Thaumatorb: a powerful artifact absorbing Mana Power used as its power source.

When confronting the threat of Aeve Zalaha's return, he learns that the despicable Master Passar was the one who stole the Thaumatorb, and witnesses his pathetic demise, killed by the dragon he just unleashed.

Personality[]

Morley in the mountains.

Morley in the mountains.

Morley used to be bright, energic and enthusiastic as a child, but now he is somber, melancholic and reserved. He is plagued by guilt, grief and trauma, which he held on for sixteen years, only starting to heal upon meeting the heroes. He is serious and driven, but gentle and caring with a reassuring presence and a capacity to calm down people, contrasting the more brash Val. He is also very observant and perceptive.

Powers and Abilities[]

Morley is an exceptional swordsman, wielding a katana with expert proficiency. Despite his samurai aesthetic, he is the Ninja-type character. As such, he can also fight with kunai daggers, or even with magicked canes and playing cards. He is incredibly agile and spry, being able to easily climb complex structures and to hold weapons with his tail.

Morley can use the Elemental Vessels, not only to use the Mana Spirits' powers on land and in battle, but also to adopt a Character Class, each for a distinct element used in their Class Strike. Like every other playable character, he can switch between relics to change his class, element and abilities.

He masters the same ninja tricks as Hawkeye, conjuring all manner of traps and projectiles, and casting special ninja-spells like Thunder Technique, Dirt Diversion, Fire Diversion and Water Diversion.

As the Alm of the Moon, an element linked to mind and heart, he is immune to Tor Marne's madness-inducing powers.
