Masked Guru

The Masked Guru is an important antagonist in Dawn of Mana. He serves as the court mage and advisor to King Stroud.

Story[]

The Masked Guru is seen in the field commanding Lorimar Golems and overseeing attacks on the guardians of Illusia.

As the game progresses, it becomes apparent he has a personal motive for joining forces with Stroud and a connection to Thanatos. He eventually confronts Keldric in a duel atop the Beacon Tower, where his goals are revealed.

At the end, the Masked Guru appears to the defeated Medusa, calling the spirit of Anise away with him. She responds, calling him his true name of Granz.

Battle[]

Granz flies out of reach, alternatively casting a Flaming or Frozen Barrier. Keldric must break it with the opposing element before attacking. Granz's rapier can stun Keldric, and he summons Sniper Visages (floating masks firing purple beams, that must be destroyed). He casts Flaming Gale or a barrage of Ice Crystals, conjures a green sphere causing all negative status, a violet Poison Mist, and Meteorite: a devastating rain of meteors.
