The Grinder, also known as Golem, is a boss in Final Fantasy Adventure and Adventures of Mana.

Strategy

Though it is relatively easy to reach the Grinder first, the player must first find the Moor area and battle the Cyclops for the Morningstar. No other weapon will penetrate the lumbering hunk of metal.

With the Morningstar equipped, Sumo should well be able to club the mech from a distance. It has front-arcing laser attack that deals a lot of damage when at close range. As it moves toward him, Sumo should strafe out of the Grinder's path and wind the Morningstar to push it away. If timed properly, the Grinder should not be able to deal much damage to Sumo at all, thanks in part to its plodding speed. Grab the Book of Thunder, then continue the journey.
