- For the landmark as it exists in Adventures of Mana, see Dime Tower (Adventures of Mana).
Dime Tower is an important location in Sword of Mana. Much like the mythical Tower of Babel, the Dime Tower was intended to reach the Moon and allow for directly communicating with the Mana Goddess. It's annexed to the northernmost portion of the Ishe Desert region at the westside of the world, accessed through Ruined Passage by a teleport in a point of no return, which connects to its base, while its top connects directly to the Mana Sanctuary by another teleport.
Story[]
The Emperor Vandole had this tower built as part of his quest to claim the power of Mana. He devoted all the world's Mana to Dime Tower, along with his artillery-powered airship and arming his army of monsters. He believed that allocating Mana power this way would allow for civilization to develop.
In Vandole's empire, civilization did indeed develop, but with it came a sharp rise in crime and corruption. Vandole reacted with draconian laws that cruelly punished the people. Ironically, despite the technological progress, the construction of Dime Tower would usher in a Dark Age.
It lasted, until he was defeated, resulting in the power of mana being restored, and the tower was sunk and forgotten.
Many years later, in the sequence of the story after getting the rusty Mana Sword, the heroes are looking for a way to reach the Mana Sanctuary without the key to stop Julius. It is revealed that it was Cibba who sealed Dime Tower in the Glass Desert, so he can also unseal and raise the tower back, forming a bridge to reach the sanctuary.
Upon arriving at Dime Tower and entering a large hall, the heroes decide to separate, with the protagonist checking the underground part and the ally checking the abouveground.
Going to the basement, after activating a switch, the protagonist will find several carcasses of robots repairing to be similar of those found in Subland River and Subsea Volcano, in this, one of them gets up, the main character is scared thinking that he will attack by invoking monsters, but he doesn't.
The robot will say that he feels alone, and his companions don't move anymore, so he will tell that the protagonist is his friend, this one in turn will ask him to join their journey, thus, Marshall the warbot joins the protagonist.
Back to the entrance room, the protagonist reads the inscription on the stone and sees that it is a code, Marshall seeing the code clarifies that Dime Tower was built to supply the Vandole empire with the power of mana as a weapon of destruction.
The protagonist will be angry, but the robot does not understand this, soon the main character attacks destroying the inscription and explains to the robot that this use of mana is wrong. However, the robot will not understand when it computes this, processing the information as if it refers to itself as Marshall being bad. A passage will opens so the two can continue their path.
As they progressing in the ascent, when they reach some floors, suddenly, the lower part of the tower will collapse with all the previous floors, meaning they can't go back.
When the reach the 13th floor, the floor will quake, a voice will sound calling them intruders and determinate to eliminate them, Marshall will warn that Golem is coming, and soon, a battle will begin.
After the battle a passage opens, the other main character appears, soon, the protagonist introduces Marshall, who is soon happy to have more friends after decades of solitude, so the three follow together and the scene cuts.
Upstairs, the heroes find Julius' shadow, who will quick talks to them. Suddenly, the tower quakes again, Julius explains that the tower's defense systems were activated when they defeated the Golem, and mocking them for digging their own grave, the Hero tries to attack it but the shadow dissipates.
The voice of the shadow echoes laughing that they will be buried with Dime Tower and soon it's gone, so the floor where the Hero is forms a gap and separates him from the others.
He tells the Heroine to jump, but this one refuses saying is too far away and ask him to continue ahead and stop Julius, shortly after, Marshall will offer to toss the Heroine to the Hero catch her, saying that he can fly with his back rockets.
After tossing her and the Hero catch her, Marshall will confess that he will leave them, explaining that he is the same as the Dime Tower, when it falls he also falls too since he only works in this place, and that he is not alone as he will join the other warbots, saying farewell to them, the tower collapses and Marshall goes with it.
