The Dark Castle is one of the final dungeons of Trials of Mana. It is located on an island north of Laurent.
It is only explorable if the main protagonist is Hawkeye or Riesz, and can only be reached by going through the Night Cavern. Belladonna appears as a boss inside the castle.
Background[]
In the 2D version, an old woman in Pedda can be asked for info about the Dark Castle. She doesn't recognize the name but reveals there a Castle of Light once stood on an island north of Laurent. However, the kingdom there was ruined long ago and no one lives there anymore.
Before dying, Belladonna reveals the Dark Majesty was formerly a prince of the Castle of Light. He was foretold to bring about the downfall of his kingdom. Due to being feared and reviled by everyone, he gave in to despair and accepted when the demons of Mavolia offered him a deal. In a self-fulfilling prophecy, the new Dark Majesty devastated the kingdom with his newfound power.
