“Eruptions will scorch the earth with fire from every fissure. The wind will rage and the wings will fall flightless. Pure water will run foul, and disease spread. Soil that once brought life turns all to dust and stone. Verdant land will wither away, and seeds will cease to sprout. The glaring light will obscure the boundaries to reality. Darkness will deepen, breeding monsters in its wake. The moon's hold over time will splinter, depriving all beings of logic.”
—Daelophos' curse turned to prophecy.
Daelophos is the main villain of Visions of Mana. Once the mightiest Mana Knight in history and a fabled hero for saving the world from the Benevodons, tragedy drove him mad and he now seeks to kill the Mana Goddess and everyone alive. He had been sealed in the boulder in which the Mana Sword was thrust, only to be freed when Eoren removed it.
Personality[]
Daelophos used to be a noble and devoted servant of the Goddess, fighting hard to restore balance. Alas, his absolute devotion to his beloved Cerulia drove him to the deep end after her death. Maddened with grief, he wowed to slay the Goddess for enabling this and the rest of the world for enjoying the peace she could not.
He is now burning with seething rage and hatred, lashing out with cold, controlled fury. He loathes the world for needing sacrifices to go on, hypocritically ignoring that he is responsible for this with his curse. However, the more the heroes resist him, the more his control shatters, becoming increasingly unhinged, completely losing his mind by the time of the Final Battle.
Powers and Abilities[]
Daelophos is a supreme warrior, fast, spry and relentless, notorious for his unstoppable physical strength. His anger and hatred is such that it plagues the entire world with endless elemental disasters, only kept at bay by repeated sacrifices of Alms. He completely controls the Mana Sword and the Mana Power, with strong mastery of the Elemental Relics evolving into elemental powers, with emphasis on the Light and the Dark Element.
By the time he recovers all his might, his hatred is so strong that he no longers need the Mana Sword, turning into a buiding-sized demon through sheer rage.
Background[]
Millennia before the start of the game, people abused the Mana Power in pointless wars, disturbing the balance to the point of driving the Benevodons berserk. Such combined disasters merged the Five Realms into one and distorted Time and Space, turning the once stable world of Fa'Diel into a chaotic world named Qi'Diel.
The Mana Goddess chose Daelophos as her champion, granting him the Mana Sword and the Elemental Vessel, for him to use the powers of the Mana Spirits, which he used to defeat and seal the Benevodons and restore peace. Alas, this was not enough to sustain the world, with the Mana Tree exhausting all its power.
Some time later, Daelophos' girlfriend Cerulia was murdered. Enraged by the loss of the one he fought for and asked the Goddess to be reunited, Daelophos went mad with grief and went to the Sanctuary to destroy the Tree of Mana and kill the Goddess. He cursed Qi'Diel with endless elemental disasters, only kept at bay by the Goddess entering a slumber. As such, it was decided that the Faeries would chose one Alm for each country, for a pilgrimage to the Mana Sanctuary where they would sacrifice themselves to merge with the Mana Tree and sustain its power, keeping the curse at bay.
Helped by the Spirits, Khoda, the Goddess' Soul Guard defeated Daelophos at the cost of his life, sealing him in a boulder in which the Mana Sword was planted to keep him imprisoned, while his powers were dispersed and sealed way. Khoda's soul would forever watch over the seal to make sure no-one were to free the fallen hero.
