Bruiser is a non-player character and tutorial enemy in Trials of Mana. He is a junior-rank fighter from Valsena who is also Duran's sparring partner. He resembles a Copper Knight in both of his appearances.
Story[]
With Duran competing in the sword mastery tournament, youth division, Bruiser takes up the challenge of being his first opponent. But, as he does every tournament, Bruiser talks a big game and then falls to Duran. It is not known what becomes of him as Altena, led by the Crimson Wizard, begins to invade the kingdom.
Speaking to him again after saving the king with Duran in party gets Personal Style, which adds 15% damage to class strikes.
Fortunately, Bruiser is revealed to be alive and well according to the expanded story of the 2020 remake, as the player may once again challenge him to advance in a second tournament, from which Duran may claim the Valor Sphere he needs to reach Class 4.
