The Amazon Appstore (full name Amazon Appstore for Android) is a digital application portal curated by Seattle, Washington-based retail conglomerate Amazon.com Inc.

Designed exclusively for Android-based devices and integrated with Amazon's own Fire family of smart hardware, the Appstore's main purpose is to provide an alternative to Google Play for software distribution. As such, Android apps on the Amazon Appstore generally cannot require access to Google Play functions, and must be revised to perform their microtransactions through Amazon's framework.
